PRASA Inaugurates Advanced Data Center Manufacturing Facility in Pune to Support India’s Digital Infrastructure Growth

Mulshi, Pune, Maharashtra | June 5, 2026 – As India rapidly emerges as one of the world’s fastest-growing digital economies, the demand for resilient, scalable, and high-performance data center infrastructure continues to grow at an unprecedented rate. The expansion of artificial intelligence, cloud computing, digital services, enterprise technologies, and data localization requirements is driving significant investments across the country’s digital infrastructure landscape.

To address this growing demand, PRASA has inaugurated its state-of-the-art Data Center Manufacturing Facility in the Mulshi industrial region near Pune. Established with an initial investment exceeding ₹20 crore and supported by a planned overall investment of more than ₹60 crore, the facility marks a major milestone in strengthening India’s digital infrastructure ecosystem through manufacturing-led innovation and industrial excellence.

Spanning nearly 40,000 sq. ft., the facility is among India’s few dedicated manufacturing centers focused exclusively on modular data center infrastructure solutions. Built on Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA) principles, the plant is equipped to manufacture containerized data centers, modular utility skids, cooling skids, power skids, prefabricated steel structures, and integrated infrastructure systems designed for mission-critical environments.

The facility has been developed to address a key industry challenge—accelerating infrastructure deployment without compromising quality, reliability, or scalability. By transferring a significant portion of construction activities from project sites to a controlled factory environment, PRASA aims to reduce project timelines, improve execution efficiency, and ensure superior quality assurance through standardized manufacturing processes.

Commenting on the inauguration, Jay Burse, Chief Vision Officer (CVO), PRASA, said:

“India’s digital transformation will be defined not only by software innovation but also by the strength of the physical infrastructure supporting it. As AI, cloud, and enterprise technologies continue to scale, the industry requires faster, smarter, and more predictable approaches to infrastructure delivery. This facility reflects our conviction that the future of data center infrastructure will be increasingly driven by advanced manufacturing.”

The facility is designed to support the evolving needs of hyperscale operators, colocation providers, cloud service providers, telecom operators, enterprise customers, and emerging AI-driven data center projects across India. PRASA continues to collaborate with key stakeholders within the digital infrastructure ecosystem, while customer-specific engagements remain confidential.

In addition to strengthening manufacturing capabilities, the project is expected to generate more than 650 direct and indirect employment opportunities across engineering, fabrication, project management, quality assurance, logistics, and supply chain functions.

Sustainability remains a key focus of the facility’s long-term roadmap. The plant will initially operate with partial solar energy integration and forms part of PRASA’s broader vision of developing renewable energy-powered manufacturing infrastructure aligned with global sustainability standards. The company plans to steadily increase renewable energy adoption while contributing to the growth of sustainable and energy-efficient data center infrastructure.

Over the next three to five years, PRASA intends to invest further in automation, advanced manufacturing systems, precision engineering, and digital production technologies, reinforcing its position as a leading provider of modular infrastructure solutions for India’s rapidly evolving digital economy.

As demand for digital infrastructure continues to accelerate across the country, PRASA’s new Pune manufacturing facility is poised to become a critical enabler of India’s next phase of digital and economic growth.
